Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking a Mainframe Developer to design, build, and support COBOL-based applications on a Z/OS platform in a financial domain. You will translate business requirements into software solutions using COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL, and VSAM, while contributing to standards and development strategies.

Hybrid work arrangement in Westlake, TX with on-site presence every other week. W-2 benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.

Qualifications

• Five years of mainframe development, test automation, and support using COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, VSAM, MQ-Series, Java, Web Services, and SQL.
• Experience developing and deploying Batch and CICS applications.
• Experience with Endevor, debugging with Intertest and Abend-AID, and scheduling with Control-M.
• Experience analyzing data flows for mainframe applications and performance tuning in TSO/MVS environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform as a full stack engineer, including requirements gathering, development, and testing.
• Participate in architecture design teams and help define application level architecture.
• Develop applications on sophisticated projects, components, and subsystems.
• Recommend testing tools and methodologies and review test plans.
• Be responsible for QA readiness and plan system testing.
• Develop comprehensive documentation for multiple applications.
• Establish project plans for complex projects across platforms.
• Plan and coordinate project schedules and assignments.
• Act as liaison for business units to resolve issues.
• Provide solutions and estimates for initiatives.
• Mentor junior team members and advise on technical strategy.
• Identify opportunities to automate processes.

Hybrid Every Other Week onsite / 5 days in Westlake, TX

Our client seeks a Mainframe Developer to design, build, and support applications on a Z/OS platform. The team leverages financial domain expertise across demographic and financial feed processing, recordkeeping, and transaction processing. You will translate business requirements into software solutions using COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL, and VSAM, while contributing to standards, policies, and development strategies.

Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.

Rate: $50.00 to $54.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities:

• Perform as a full stack engineer, including requirements gathering, development, and testing.
• Participate in architecture design teams and help define and implement application level architecture.

• Be responsible for QA readiness.
• Plan and conduct system testing.
• Develop comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.

• Act as a primary liaison for business units to resolve project and technology issues.
• Provide technology solutions to daily issues and deliver technical evaluation estimates on initiatives.
• Advise senior management on technical strategy and mentor junior team members.
• Perform independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects.
• Identify opportunities to innovate and automate existing processes.

Experience Requirements:

• Five years of mainframe application development, test automation, and support using COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, VSAM, MQ-Series, Java, Web Services, and SQL.
• Experience developing and deploying Batch and CICS applications.
• Experience with File-Aid for file format and comparison, version management with Endevor, debugging and unit testing using Intertest and Abend-AID, and scheduling with Control-M.
• Experience analyzing and designing data flows for mainframe applications.
• Experience with performance tuning in TSO and MVS environments using Endevor, Git, ClearCase, Control-M, Abend-AID, Intertest, File-Aid, Easytrieve, and tools such as Strobe, iStrobe, Platinum Detector, and TMON to reduce I/Os, CPU time, MSUs, and MIPs.
• Experience with open source technologies such as Python.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field, and five years of experience in the role or in mainframe brokerage and stock plan services systems application development.
