Job summary

Nityo Infotech seeks a Senior Mainframe Engineer/Technical Lead to translate business needs into robust mainframe stock plan services software on a Z/OS platform. You will lead an interactive team and drive architecture, development, testing, and crisis support within an Agile setting.

The role emphasizes expertise in COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, VSAM, MQ-Series, and SQL, with a focus on performance tuning and capacity planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field with 5+ years (or 3+ years with Master’s) in mainframe brokerage or stock plan services systems.
• Experience as a technical lead in mainframe brokerage or stock plan services systems and application development.

Responsibilities

• Lead an interactive team to implement scalable application solutions.
• Perform as a mainframe engineer within an Agile team across requirements, development, and end-to-end testing.
• Define, develop, and lead architectural decisions for complex mainframe applications.
• Provide on-site and on-call support as needed and act as a subject matter expert in crisis situations.
• Develop documentation and plan for multiple projects across platforms.
• Meet project goals on-time and on-budget; communicate risks and mitigation strategies.

Job Description:

• Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five or more (5+) years of experience in the job offered or five or more (5+) years of experience as a technical lead in mainframe brokerage or stock plan services systems and application development.
• Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or three (3) years of experience as a technical lead in mainframe brokerage and stock plan services systems and application development.

The Purpose of Your Role

Use business and technical knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex stock plan services software applications on a mainframe platform running under a Z/OS environment.

• Your Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) in defining, developing, and leading an interactive team to implement scalable application solutions
• Your DE in mainframe application development, automation, and support, utilizing COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, VSAM, MQ-Series, and SQL
• Your DE in mainframe performance tuning and capacity planning, including ways to reduce I/Os, CPU Time, MSUs, and MIPs, using Strobe, iStrobe, and Platinum Detector
• Your DE in mainframe application development including: file format and comparison using File-AID; version management using Endeavor; debugging and unit testing using Intertest and Abend-AID; and job scheduling using Control-M

• Performing as a mainframe engineer within an Agile team, including requirements gathering, development, and end-to-end testing
• Defining, developing, and leading interactive team to implement application level architecture, giving due consideration to application scalability and extensibility, and conformance to established standards
• Providing on-site and on-call support as needed and acting as a subject matter expert as part of a cross-functional crisis management team
• Developing applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division
• Recommending development testing tools and methodologies and reviewing and validating test plans
