Oakland County in Michigan is seeking a Data Processing Equipment Operator to help keep county technology systems running. You will operate computers and peripherals, monitor consoles, identify issues, and assist users with technical questions.

This full‑time on‑site role requires a high school diploma or GED, three years of experience with large mainframe or server computers, and the ability to work day, afternoon, or midnight shifts, including weekends.

Qualifications

• Be a high school graduate or have a certificate of successful completion of the GED; AND
• Have three (3) years full-time experience operating large scale mainframe or server computers with multiprocessing, teleprocessing and all associated peripherals.
• Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for the class of Data Processing Equipment Operator II.
• Successfully complete the six month probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Operates the computer and peripheral equipment and monitors the operator's console, responding to instructions and messages to maintain efficient operation.
• Performs job set-up to run moderately difficult and complex programs using provided documentation and standards.
• Prepares peripheral input/output devices to ensure efficient job transitions and tear-down duties after program completion.
• Places service calls and resolves customer problems with the teleprocessing network and data reports.
• Utilizes county software to complete assignments and support users across departments.
