Job summary

The California State Controller’s Office in Sacramento is hiring a Mailing Machines Operator II to handle high-volume mail processing in the Disbursements division. You will operate complex inserting machines, manage sorting and postage reporting, and ensure timely and accurate communications for state programs.

This permanent, full-time role requires physical lifting up to 50 lb, operating warehouse equipment, and adherence to safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of mailing equipment, such as complex multi-function inserting machines, folding, inserting, and sealing documents.
• Clear jams, perform basic maintenance and minor repairs.
• Review work orders and process jobs per specifications, regulations, and schedules.
• Ensure quality control of processed mail.
• Operate the presort machine (ZIP code sorter) and manage mail trays.
• Prepare postage reports on a desktop PC for electronic submission to the USPS.
• Set up and operate metering machines, joggers, cutters, shrink-wrap, and tying machines.
• Operate warehouse equipment (forklift, pallet jack) safely.
