Job summary

Boys Town in Omaha, NE is seeking a mailroom associate who opens, sorts, and processes mail and monetary donations for imaging and recordkeeping.

You will enter data for credit card systems, reconcile cash donations, and ensure accurate handling of funds while supporting daily mail operations in an office setting. The role requires attention to detail and basic math skills, with physical tasks including lifting and moving packages up to 40 pounds.

Qualifications

Major Responsibilities & Duties

Extracts and organizes mail and monetary donations.

  • Sorts and categorizes mail as required.
  • Operates extractor to open pre-sorted mail ensuring that mail is categorized appropriately; records count of each item opened.
  • Prepares mail to be imaged; processes mail on imaging transports.
  • Enters data for credit card system and validates items for imaging system.
  • Reconciles total cash donations to the combined total of currency batches.
  • Runs 10-key tape on the amount donated in a batch as needed, reconciling with donor documents, and prepares deposit slips.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate with supervisor and coworkers in a professional manner, keeping sensitive information confidential.
  • Ability to complete repetitive tasks for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to open, categorize, and sort mail and cash.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining quality standards.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Must have adequate math skills to count cash.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in an office and dealing with cash and/or credit cards is preferred.

Physical Requirements, Equipment Usage, Work Environment
  • Position requires moderate physical activity and constant repetitive motions requiring strength and stamina. Lifting, carrying, and moving packages of up to 40 pounds, pushing and pulling carts loaded with packages, standing and/or walking, and time at a keyboard, workstation, or desk. Work is typically in a normal office administrative and mail sorting environment involving exposure machines with moving parts, constant noise, paper dust, and dust.
