Job summary

Brookpark Precision Machining is seeking a skilled Machinist / Tool Maker / EDM Programmer to design, build, and maintain tooling and fixtures for prototype and production runs. You will learn from a long-term retiring employee to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of operations.

You must have 8+ years in toolmaking/ Wire EDM or precision machining, strong ProtoTRAK and CNC skills, and hold a Journeyman Tool Maker card or apprenticeship certificate.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of Tool Maker/Wire EDM/precision machining experience.
• Proficiency with ProtoTRAK conversational programming and CNC/milling/lathe.
• Journeyman Tool Maker card or apprenticeship certificate.
• Ability to read drawings and GD&T.
• Ability to design/build fixtures and tooling independently.
• Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, modify, and maintain tooling, fixtures, jigs, and special-purpose workholding for prototype and production.
• Program, set up, and operate ProtoTRAK milling machines, lathes, and Wire EDM equipment.
• Work with senior toolmakers to gain specialized knowledge.
• Investigate nonconforming part conditions and implement fixes.
• Manufacture prototype and production parts from drawings/ CAD/ sketches.
• Select tooling and parameters for each application.
• Inspect finished components with precision measuring equipment.
• Apply GD&T and shop math to ensure part conformance.
• Recommend process improvements to reduce setup times and waste.

Machinist / Tool Maker / EDM Programmer

Shift: Monday through Thursday 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Friday 6:00 AM to 12:30 PM (46 hours/week)

Salary: $24.00 - $31.00 / hour (Dependent on Experience)

Machinist / Tool Maker / EDM Programmer Role

This position exists to design, build, and maintain specialized tooling, fixtures, and components while learning directly from a long-term retiring employee to ensure a seamless operational transition.

Machinist / Tool Maker / EDM Programmer Responsibilities

• Design, build, modify, and maintain tooling, fixtures, jigs, and special-purpose workholding for prototype and production applications
• Program, set up, and operate ProtoTRAK milling machines, lathes, and Wire EDM equipment
• Work side-by-side with senior toolmaking personnel to acquire specialized operational knowledge
• Investigate and resolve nonconforming part conditions through machining, rework, fixture modifications, and process improvements
• Manufacture prototype and production parts from engineering drawings, CAD models, sketches, or verbal instructions
• Select appropriate tooling, cutting parameters, and workholding methods for each application
• Inspect finished components using micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gages, and precision measuring equipment
• Apply GD&T principles, precision measurement techniques, and shop mathematics to ensure part conformance
• Recommend and implement process improvements to reduce setup times, improve quality, and eliminate waste

Machinist / Tool Maker / EDM Programmer Reporting Relationships

This role reports directly to the Operations and Production Management team and has no direct reports.

About You

• Possess a minimum of 8 years of relevant Tool Maker, Tool & Die, Wire EDM, or precision machining experience
• Demonstrate strong proficiency with ProtoTRAK conversational programming as well as manual and CNC equipment
• Program, set up, and operate Wire EDM machinery with high accuracy
• Hold a Journeyman Tool Maker card or completed apprenticeship certificate
• Design and build custom machining fixtures and workholding solutions independently
• Read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications
• Solve complex manufacturing and quality issues using root-cause analysis
• Provide personal tools required for precision toolmaking and machining tasks
