Responsibilities include:

1. Carry through to completion the construction and repair of all kinds of metal parts, tools, machines, and attachments.
2. Change layout and set-up of the various machines and mechanical equipment in the plant as directed by supervisor.
3. Perform duties such as assembling, dismantling, moving, installing or repairing to blueprint specifications.
4. Use all machinist hand tools skillfully; including scrapers, chisels, files and measuring instruments.
5. Set-up and operate all machine tools including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and shapers.
6. Possess knowledge of shop mathematics, use of charts and tables, and understanding of dimensions and uses of standard bolts, screws, threads and taper pins.
7. Be familiar with the working properties of metals such as aluminum, brass, cast iron, and steels; shape metal parts to precise dimensions within close tolerances.
8. Disassemble and assemble equipment as required.
9. Grind machine tools and make tools, fixtures, and holding devices as needed.
10. Follow the sequence of operations in machining parts.
11. Have the ability to read and write, and possess basic technical knowledge to interpret drawings, specifications, and shop mathematics.

Minimum requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, proficiency in basic computer skills, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and physical ability to perform bending, squatting, reaching, walking, and standing for long periods. The role may involve working in hot or cold environments and in fast-paced settings.
