Job summary

Rocketdyne in Redmond, WA is seeking a precision Machinist for our in-house machine shop. This DAY SHIFT position runs Monday to Thursday from 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with overtime as needed to meet delivery schedules.

You’ll read GD&T and drawings, set up CNC and conventional machines, and maintain tight tolerances to produce propulsion components for electric thrusters and related systems. Preferred: High School diploma and 6+ years close-tolerance machining experience with aluminum, tool steels,

Job Description

We are seeking a precision Machinist to join our Machine Shop in Redmond, Washington. This is a DAY SHIFT POSITION and typically works Mondays - Thursdays from 5:00AM - 3:30PM, but candidates must be willing and available to work other shifts or overtime as needed to meet delivery schedules.

In our Redmond, WA, site (Seattle area), we fabricate, assemble, and test chemical and electric thrusters, as well as small scale propulsion systems. Our electric propulsion systems enable a wide variety of missions from the exploration of our solar system to global communication and the surveillance of severe weather and wild fires

Essential Functions

• Reading and understanding GD&T, engineering drawings and blueprints including true positioning and conventional tolerancing.


• Reading and following production planning.


• Running jobs close to tolerances of +/- .0001".


• Maintaining a rejection rate of less than 2%.


• Using precision measuring instruments to check work.


• Setting up and running the following: numerically controlled and conventional machine tools (includes some programming).


• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred and 6+ years of related experience in close tolerance machining experience. Knowledge of machining materials such as aluminum, tool, alloy, carbon steels, stainless steel, titanium, plastics and Inconel is preferred. Must understand and be able to use trigonometry. Requires the willingness and ability to work overtime as necessary.
