Job summary

Rocketdyne in Redmond, WA is seeking a precision Machinist for a 2nd shift. The role involves reading GD&T and drawings, setting up and operating NC and conventional machine tools, and maintaining extremely tight tolerances.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and 10+ years of close tolerance machining experience.
• Knowledge of machining materials such as aluminum, tool steel, stainless steel, titanium, plastics and Inconel is preferred.
• Must understand and be able to use trigonometry.

Responsibilities

Job Description

We are seeking a precision Machinist to join our Machine Shop in Redmond, Washington. This is a 2nd SHIFT POSITION and typically works Mondays - Thursdays from 3:30AM – 2:00AM, but candidates must be willing and available to work other shifts or overtime as needed to meet delivery schedules. In our Redmond, WA, site (Seattle area), we fabricate, assemble, and test chemical and electric thrusters, as well as small scale propulsion systems. Our electric propulsion systems enable a wide variety of missions from the exploration of our solar system to global communication and the surveillance of severe weather and wildfires.

Essential Functions

• Reading and understanding GD&T, engineering drawings and blueprints including true positioning and conventional tolerancing.
• Reading and following production planning.
• Running jobs close to tolerances of +/- .0001".
• Maintaining a rejection rate of less than 2%.
• Using precision measuring instruments to check work.
• Setting up and running the following: numerically controlled and conventional machine tools (includes some programming).
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred and 10+ years of related experience in close tolerance machining experience. Knowledge of machining materials such as aluminum, tool, alloy, carbon steels, stainless steel, titanium, plastics and Inconel is preferred. Must understand and be able to use trigonometry. Requires the willingness and ability to work overtime as necessary.
