Job description

Overview

A leading aerospace program developing next‑generation flight hardware is looking for a Machining Technician to join its Production Realization Lab. This team produces precision components that support prototype builds, assembly fixtures, and rapid development cycles. You’ll work closely with engineers and machinists, contributing directly to hardware that moves from concept to functional test in short timeframes.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on machining, problem‑solving, and working in a fast-paced, engineering-focused environment.

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes, including 5‑axis machining centers, 8‑axis turning centers, and Wire EDM machines
  • Cut material, build tooling, set fixtures, prove out and run programs, and finish parts per programmer direction
  • Measure parts to tight tolerances using precision inspection tools
  • Produce and modify parts quickly to support prototype rigs and assemblies
  • Maintain equipment and keep work areas organized and safe
  • Record build data and maintain accurate project documentation
  • Collaborate with engineers to identify issues and recommend improvements
Qualifications
  • Skilled in using precision measurement tools: bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, dial indicators
  • Experience with CNC machining (lathe, mill‑turn, EDM and/or 5‑axis)
  • Ability to perform machine maintenance
  • Strong attention to detail with solid documentation skills
  • Familiarity with band saws, grinders, pneumatic tools, and general machine shop equipment
  • Awareness of electrical hazards and safe practices around high‑voltage and rotating machinery
Required Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years as a machinist
Bonus
  • Experience with electric vehicle propulsion components
  • Knowledge of G‑code
  • Technical school or vocational training (not required but beneficial)
Why This Team Stands Out

The Production Realization Lab is where ideas quickly become hardware. As a Machining Technician, your work directly supports prototype assembly, testing, and rapid iteration for advanced aerospace systems. You’ll be part of a highly collaborative environment where craftsmanship, speed, and precision all matter—and where your work has immediate impact.
