Job Title

Machinist IV – 2nd Shift (Onsite – Orrville, OH)

Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate manual and CNC controlled machines within the assigned work area, including loading and unloading fixtures and parts, presetting cutting tools, dialing in fixtures and adjusting machine offsets to achieve acceptable parts.
  • Perform associated operations or tasks independently using other types of machines or equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Troubleshoot problems that arise during set-up and production runs, making necessary machine and tooling adjustments, evaluating alternatives, and implementing corrective action or cost‑effective solutions to achieve quality standards.
  • Inspect and ensure part quality using inspection equipment, document discrepancies, and ensure paperwork requirements are fulfilled.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketch sheets, and schedule requirements, and understand machine shop practices, terminology, and basic shop math.
  • Communicate effectively and maintain relationships with other shifts, Production Engineering, and Quality to ensure smooth transition.
  • Receive guidance from supervision, meet deadlines and schedules, safety practices, and company procedures.
  • Perform other duties such as operating an overhead crane, operating multiple machines at the same time, and may train other employees.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; otherwise demonstrated ability to understand and apply verbal, written and computer work instructions or training in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a primary machinist.
  • Experience operating hand drills, back spot facer, parts cleaner, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, air gauges, precision pins, height gauges, and hand tools.

Salary

Hourly: $26.00–$32.00

Salary range represents the low and high end of Moog’s salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Moog’s total compensation package. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region‑specific benefits.
