Job summary

Moog in Orrville, OH is hiring a Machinist IV for the 1st shift to operate manual and CNC machines, set up tooling, and read blueprints. You will work with a team to ensure part quality and timely production, training others as needed.

The role requires at least 5 years as a machinist, with experience on hand drills, micrometers, and precision measurement tools. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, and relocation assistance may be available.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual and CNC machines in assigned area, loading/unloading fixtures and parts.
• Troubleshoot setup and production issues; adjust machines and tooling as needed to meet quality standards.
• Inspect parts using inspection equipment and document discrepancies.
• Read blueprints and schedules; understand shop math and terminology.
• Communicate with other shifts, Production Engineering, and Quality for smooth transitions.

Experience / Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED preferred. Otherwise, demonstrated ability to understand and apply all verbal, written and computer work instructions or training in English, and demonstrated ability to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate manual machines and CNC controlled machines within assigned work area, including load and unload fixtures and parts, preset cutting tools, dial in fixture and adjust machine offsets to achieve acceptable part.
• Perform associated operations or tasks independently using other types of machines or equipment with minimum supervision.
• Troubleshoot problems that arise during set up and production runs, making necessary machine and tooling adjustments, evaluate alternatives, implement corrective action or cost-effective solutions to achieve quality standards.
• Inspect and ensure part quality by using assorted inspection equipment and document discrepant hardware.
• Ensure paperwork requirements are fulfilled.
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketch sheets, and schedule requirements, and understand machine shop practices, terminology, and basic shop math including decimal fractions, ratio, rate, percent, and bar graphs.
• Communicate effectively and maintain relationships with other shifts, Production Engineering, and Quality to ensure smooth transition.
• Receive guidance from supervision, meet deadlines and schedule, safety practices, company procedures.
• Perform other duties such as operate overhead crane, as assigned, including operator multiple machines at the same time.
• May train other employees.

Salary Range Transparency:

Orrville, OH $28.00-$33.00 Hourly
