Job summary

Spira Manufacturing Corp in San Fernando, CA, is seeking a Machinist Intern for Fall. This internship offers hands-on exposure to CNC and waterjet equipment and trained supervision before operating machinery.

The program runs 12–16 weeks (Sept 08–Dec) with 20–40 hours per week. Interns assist with setup, material handling, inspection, preventive maintenance, 6S and safety improvements, and document procedures and logs as they learn machining workflows.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in high school, college, university, or a relevant career/technical program.
• Interest or coursework in machining, manufacturing, or mechanical technology.

Responsibilities

• Observe and assist machinists with CNC and waterjet workflows under supervision.
• Assist with setup preparation, material handling, tooling and fixture setup support, and machine checks.
• Support with inspection, documentation, logs, and ongoing housekeeping and safety tasks.
