Moog Military Aircraft LLC in Torrance, CA is seeking a Machinist II to set up and operate large CNC saws, producing quality production hardware on a first shift onsite. You will perform set-ups, inspect work, read blueprints, use shop measuring tools, and ensure production time standards are met.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, 3+ years machining experience, blueprint reading, and basic computer skills; compensation ranges from $25.00 to $35.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Use shop measuring instruments for setup and in‑process checks.
• Meet production time standards and maintain SPC-compliant processes.
• Perform block checks on NC/CNC machines to prevent scrap.
• Assist and instruct lesser skilled employees as needed.
• Help the Logistics team with receiving, stock pulling, counting, packing and shipping.

Job Summary

Job Title: Machinist II
Reporting To: Manager, Group Logistics
Work Schedule: Onsite – Torrance, CA (1st shift 6:00am‑2:30pm)

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate proficiently two or more different types of large CNC saws producing quality production hardware.
• Perform set‑ups and all other machinist level functions.
• Help plan work within the Cell.
• Inspect all work performed; detect unusual conditions, defective materials, and deviate parts; and recognize errors in blueprints and operation sheets.
• Use different shop measuring instruments for setting up and checking work, and in‑process monitoring of hardware.
• Meet production time standards on work assignments.
• Apply good knowledge of practical shop mathematics.
• Perform block checks on NC or CNC machines and detect errors in tapes to prevent scrap.
• Perform other work of comparable or lesser difficulty as required.
• Must be trained and certified in the elements of the Certified Operator Program and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
• Assist and instruct lesser skilled employees when required.
• Assist the larger Logistics team with receiving, stock pulling, stocking, cycle counting, packing and shipping as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and apply all verbal, written and computer work instructions or training in English.
• Demonstrated ability to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• 3 years or more of machining experience.
• Blueprint reading.
• Basic computer skills.

Compensation

Hourly Salary Range: $25.00–$35.00 (Torrance, CA)
