Job summary

FM Industries in Livermore, CA is seeking a CNC Horizontal Machinist I to set‑up and run parts of simple to intermediate complexity under supervision. Training begins on day shift for two weeks, with weekend shift hours from 4:00 am to 4:30 pm Friday through Sunday, and 12‑hour days.

You will read blueprints and instructions, and provide guidance to operators as needed. Eligible for a 15% shift differential with overtime after 8 hours daily.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years’ work experience
• Basic knowledge of blueprint reading and GD&T
• Experience with Mazak is a plus
• Basic knowledge of inspection practices
• Ability to read blueprints to ensure accuracy

Responsibilities

• Set-up and run repeat or proven parts with simple to intermediate complexity under direction from Lead or Supervisor
• Read blueprints, tooling instructions, and standard charts for specifications
• Provide technical guidance to operators and lower-level machinists
• Ensure an accurate router accompanies all work orders
• Recognize machine deviation and alert lead or supervisor

THIS POSITION IS FOR WEEKEND SHIFT - Weekend hours are 4:00 am to 4:30 pm Friday thru Sunday. 12 hours days
Eligible for 15% shift differential and overtime after 8 hours daily

Training will consist of a minimum two weeks on day shift for training. Longer if needed.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

As a CNC Horizontal Machinist I, you will set-up and run repeat or proven part(s) with simple to intermediate complexity with direction from area Lead or Supervisor.

• Responsible for utilizing shop paper procedure including updates, signatures, and stamps, counting quantities, labeling and non-conformance related activities
• Read blueprints, tooling instructions, and standard charts for specifications
• Provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to operators and lower-level machinists as required
• Ensure an accurate router accompanies all work orders
• Able to recognize machine deviation versus cutter or work holding problems and alerts lead or supervisor.

Qualifications:

• 0-2 years’ work experience
• Basic knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of blueprint reading, GD & T
• Experience with Mazak a plus
• Basic knowledge of accepted inspection practices
• Ability to read blueprints to ensure accuracy in part making
