Job summary

MetalTek International in Wisconsin seeks an experienced CNC lathe operator to set up, adjust and run NC/CNC lathes and machining centers to perform turning, boring, milling, drilling and related finishing tasks.

You will read routings and blueprints, inspect work with precision instruments, and optimize setups while mentoring less experienced staff. Experience with Fanuc controls and shop math are essential; lifting up to 38 lbs is required.

Qualifications

• Two + years CNC turning experience.
• Solid background in shop math and blueprint reading.
• Experience with Fanuc controls preferred.
• Solid knowledge of machine shop & CNC techniques.
• Experienced in use of hoists and cranes.
• Personal tools & willingness to buy tools as needed.
• Experience on large diameter vertical lathes helpful.
• Ability to lift up to 38 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust and operate NC/CNC lathes or machining centers to perform turning, boring, threading, contouring, milling, drilling, tapping, reaming and angle and taper cuts to close tolerances and finish requirements.
• Work from routings, process sheets and blueprints. Use precision instruments to set-up and inspect work.
• Assist in establishing program requirements. Make machine adjustments to correct deviations from program specifications; report problems and adjust as needed.
• May recommend tooling arrangement, fixtures, operational sequences; mount and secure tooling, align fixtures and work pieces; help set up and instruct new or less qualified operators; run secondary operations when applicable.

• Work from routings, process sheets and blueprints. Use a variety of precision instruments to set-up and inspect work.
• Assist in establishing program requirements. Make machine adjustments to correct deviations from program specifications. Note and report program problems. Make adjustments to program where applicable.
• May recommend tooling arrangement, fixtures, operational sequences. Mount and secure tooling, align and secure fixtures, platens and work pieces. Help make set-up & instruct new or less qualified operators. Run secondary machine or auxiliary operations when applicable.
