Job summary

Greystone, Inc. is seeking a skilled CNC Machine Operator with experience operating CNC lathes in a production environment. The ideal candidate will troubleshoot, read blueprints, load tooling, adjust offsets, and perform inspections to ensure high-quality precision components.

Opportunities are available on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts with pay ranging from $32–$40 per hour. 2nd & 3rd shift differential offered. We value safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education, CNC training, or machining certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience operating CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience performing tooling changes, offset adjustments, and production optimization on CNC turning centers.
  • Strong knowledge of machining principles, cutting tools, feeds and speeds, and metalworking processes.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Ability to operate precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges, and gauges.
  • Knowledge of SPC techniques and quality assurance processes.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and machine maintenance skills.
  • Experience with Fanuc-controlled CNC lathes and basic program editing is a plus.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, quality standards, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain CNC lathes to produce precision components according to engineering specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, process sheets, and specifications to determine machining operations.
  • Load tooling, perform tool changes, adjust offsets, and make machine control adjustments to ensure optimal performance and part quality.
  • Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions, dimensional deviations, or quality issues and make necessary corrections.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues including tool wear, programming deviations, dimensional concerns, and material-related challenges.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with engineers, programmers, supervisors, and team members to optimize production processes and achieve production goals.
  • Follow established safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
  • Document production activities including machine settings, tooling changes, quality inspections, SPC data, and production output.
