Job summary

Greystone, Inc. seeks a skilled CNC Machine Operator to run CNC lathes in a fast-paced production setting. You will load tooling, adjust offsets, perform inspections, and collaborate with engineers to keep production on target. Experience with Fanuc controls and reading blueprints is required.

We offer multiple shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd) with shift differentials and pay based on experience, ranging from $32 to $40 per hour.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of CNC lathe experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience performing tooling changes and offset adjustments.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, GD&T, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and machine maintenance skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain CNC lathes to produce precision components according to specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, process sheets, and specs to determine machining operations.
  • Load tooling, perform tool changes, adjust offsets, and make control adjustments.
  • Monitor operations for malfunctions or quality deviations and correct as needed.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections with micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues including tool wear and programming deviations.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and supervisors to optimize processes.
  • Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean work area.
  • Document production activities including machine settings and SPC data.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machine Operator with experience operating CNC lathes in a production environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong troubleshooting abilities, experience with CNC turning operations, and a commitment to producing high‑quality precision components. This role is suited for machinists who can operate equipment, perform tooling adjustments, offsets, inspections, and support production in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. Opportunities are available on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts.

Pay is based on experience, ranging from $32–$40 per hour. 2nd & 3rd shift differential offered.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain CNC lathes to produce precision components according to engineering specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, process sheets, and specifications to determine machining operations.
  • Load tooling, perform tool changes, adjust offsets, and make machine control adjustments to ensure optimal performance and part quality.
  • Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions, dimensional deviations, or quality issues and make necessary corrections.
  • Perform first‑piece, in‑process, and final inspections using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues including tool wear, programming deviations, dimensional concerns, and material‑related challenges.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with engineers, programmers, supervisors, and team members to optimize production processes and achieve production goals.
  • Follow established safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area.
  • Document production activities including machine settings, tooling changes, quality inspections, SPC data, and production output.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education, CNC training, or machining certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience operating CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience performing tooling changes, offset adjustments, and production optimization on CNC turning centers.
  • Strong knowledge of machining principles, cutting tools, feeds and speeds, and metalworking processes.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Ability to operate precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges, and gauges.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques and quality assurance processes.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and machine maintenance skills.
  • Experience with Fanuc‑controlled CNC lathes and basic program editing is a plus.
