Job summary

MetalTek International in Wisconsin is seeking a CNC lathe/operator capable of setting up and running a range of NC/CNC lathes and machining centers. You will interpret routings, process sheets, and blueprints to achieve close tolerances and finish requirements.

Ideal candidates have Fanuc controls experience, strong shop math and blueprint reading skills, and at least two years of CNC turning experience. Lifting up to 38 lbs and use of hoists/cranes are part of daily tasks; tool setup and

• Experience with Fanuc controls preferred.
• Solid knowledge of machine shop and CNC techniques.
• Two+ years CNC turning experience.
• Strong background in shop math and blueprint reading.
• Able to lift up to 38 lbs.
• Experience on large diameter vertical lathes helpful.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust and operate NC/CNC lathes or machining centers to perform turning, boring, threading, contouring, milling, drilling, tapping, reaming and angle/taper cuts to close tolerances.
• Work from routings, process sheets and blueprints; use precision instruments to set up and inspect.
• Assist in establishing program requirements; report deviations and adjust as needed.
• Mount and secure tooling, align fixtures and work pieces; support setup and train new operators.
• Run secondary operations when applicable; participate in tooling and sequence planning.

Description

• Set up, adjust and operate a variety of NC/CNC controlled lathes or machining centers to perform turning, boring, threading, contouring, milling, drilling, tapping, reaming and angle and taper cuts to close tolerances and finish requirements.
• Work from routings, process sheets and blueprints. Use a variety of precision instruments to set-up and inspect work.
• Assist in establishing program requirements. Make machine adjustments to correct deviations from program specifications. Note and report program problems. Make adjustments to program where applicable.
• May recommend tooling arrangement, fixtures, operational sequences. Mount and secure tooling, align and secure fixtures, platens and work pieces. Help make set-up & instruct new or less qualified operators. Run secondary machine or auxiliary operations when applicable.

Requirements
