Job summary

Award Staffing seeks a Machinist in Plymouth, MN for first shift. Pay is $22.00/hr with 5am/6am/7am starts or 4-10s. Temp to Hire; overtime may be required. You will set up and operate machine shop equipment, read prints, and support production with quality workmanship.

Requirements include a 1-year certificate or related experience, ability to read prints, perform basic math, and lift up to 50 lbs. This role emphasizes safety and precision in a team environment.

Qualifications

• One-year certificate from college or technical school with five years related experience or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret prints.
• Ability to perform basic math including rate, ratio, percent.
• Ability to stand/walk/sit for portions of the shift and handle lifting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate machine shop equipment to cut, bend, machine or form parts.
• Assist Group Lead and Plant Manager with workflow and process improvements.
• Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping of the machine shop and tools.
• Adhere to company safety policies and procedures while performing duties.

About the Opportunity

• Job Title: Machinist
• Pay Rate: $22.00/hr
• Location: Plymouth, MN
• Schedule: 1st Shift, Mon-Thurs/Fri, 8-hour shifts starting at 5AM, 6AM, or 7AM, or 4-10-hour shifts. O/T required from time to time.
• Position Type: Temp to Hire

Requirements and Qualifications

• One-year certificate from college or technical school and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Must have working knowledge to read and interpret prints.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Stand more than 1/3 of the time.
• Walk more than 1/3 of the time.
• Sit under 1/3 of the time.
• Use hands, fingers, and arms over 2/3 of the time.
• No Kneeling, Crawling, Stooping, or Climbing.
• Lifting items under 10/25 pounds 2/3 of the time.
• Lifting items under 50 pounds 1/3 of the time.
• No lifting items over 50 pounds.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for quality of work performed in machine shop area. Accountable for fabrication and layout on a variety of parts or products involving close tolerances. Must set up and operate all machine shop machines to cut-bend, machine, or form parts. Uses a variety of machine shop hand tools and measuring instruments.
• Assist Group Lead in all functions of the machine shop including workflow and process improvement. Performs all job assignments as instructed by the Plant Manager and/or Group Lead.
• Responsible for keeping both machinery and plant area in good working order, including cleaning and maintenance of machine shop equipment and all tools involved in daily production.
• Responsible for good housekeeping practices in the Fabrication area.
• Abides by all policies, procedures, and guidelines of the company including good common sense safety practices.
• Performs all job assignments as instructed by the Group Lead, Assistant Plant Manager and/or Vice President.
