Job summary

Award Staffing is seeking a Press Brake Operator in Plymouth, MN to join a fast-paced, metal fabrication environment. The role requires operating shear, turret, press brakes, and laser equipment while following engineering drawings and blueprints. You will work with a team to ensure accurate dimensions, tolerances, and quality on custom parts.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of experience, strong math and reading skills, and the ability to lift up to 50 lb. per shift.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 3+ years operating metal fabrication equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and instructions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly.
  • English communication skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate metal fabrication equipment (shears, punches, press brakes, laser).
  • Ensure dimensions and tolerances per drawings and plans.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisor.
  • Measure and verify sizes and thickness.
  • Maintain a safe, clean work environment and follow safety rules.
  • Assist with mechanical assembly as needed.

About the Opportunity
  • Job Title: Press Brake Operator
  • Pay Rate Range: $22-$27/hr
  • Location: Plymouth, MN
  • Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday-Friday, 6AM-2:30PM, OT may be required during busy times.
  • Position Type: Temp to Hire
Requirements and Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED or more is preferred - equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 3+ year(s) previous experience operating metal fabrication equipment such as a shear, turret, press brake and laser.
  • Ability to work as a team player in a fast paced, custom manufacturing environment.
  • Strong work ethic with attention to detail.
  • Utilizes concepts, practices and procedures of the Assembly department.
  • Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Ability to effectively use hand tools and power tools to assemble customized units.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, engineering documentation and blueprints.
  • Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude as well as being able to complete/pass a basic mathematics test.
  • Ability to effectively communicate well with others in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • This position is required to routinely lift up to 50 lbs., repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Stand for extended periods of time.
  • Continually perform a wide range of physical activities which include pulling, reaching, bending over, crouching, lifting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assemble, repair and fabricate custom metal parts by operating mechanical equipment such as shears, automated punches, press brakes, laser and other fabrication equipment.
  • Utilizes designs and plans to assure proper dimensions and tolerances and achieved.
  • Works closely with other team members and the department lead and/or Production Supervisor.
  • Open bundles of materials with cutters, sorting stock, responsible for measuring/confirming size, type and thickness.
  • Communicate and coordinate with team members to sustain a quality finished product that meets or exceed EMI Drawings and specifications.
  • Must be able to measure dimensions and compare them to drawing specifications.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment and adheres to procedures, codes and safety regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned to meet customer requirements including mechanical assembly.
  • Steel toe/safety boots required.
  • Tape measure.
  • Safety Glasses, one pair is provided.
