N.C. Tool Company, Inc. is seeking a full-time Machinist for our Waynesboro, VA facility. You will set up and operate manual and CNC machines to produce precision components to exact specifications, interpreting drawings and work orders daily.

Responsibilities include selecting tooling and materials, monitoring operations, inspecting parts, and performing routine maintenance. You will work with the team to ensure safety, quality, and on-time production in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong machining skills with setup, operation and adjustment of manual and/or CNC machines.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions with understanding of measurement tolerances.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges) and quality inspections.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Machinist role based in Waynesboro, VA. The Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating manual and/or CNC machines to produce precision components to exact specifications, including close-tolerance and complex parts. Daily tasks include interpreting engineering drawings and work orders, selecting appropriate tooling and materials, monitoring machining operations, and inspecting parts to ensure quality standards are met. The role also involves performing routine machine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with team members to complete customer projects efficiently and safely. The Machinist is expected to follow all workplace safety guidelines, maintain a clean work area, and contribute to continuous improvement in processes and productivity.

Qualifications
  • Strong machining skills, including experience with manual and/or CNC machine setup, operation, and adjustment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions, with solid understanding of measurement and tolerances.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) and performing quality inspections.
  • Knowledge of tooling, materials, cutting speeds, and feeds, with the ability to optimize machining processes for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Familiarity with welding, small fabrication, and assembly processes is beneficial.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, including adherence to PPE requirements and safe machine operation practices.
  • Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment; experience with close-tolerance or high-risk machining is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in machining or related fields preferred.
  • Reliable attendance and willingness to work assigned shifts and overtime as needed to meet production demands.
