Job description

Hitachi Energy in Alamo, TN is seeking a Machinist to join its team. This role is responsible for taking the raw stock and machine it to the desired dimensions for assembly into the various products made at Hitachi Energy Alamo Facility. Must successfully complete in-house machinist exercise on all machining equipment in the section. Work from Work Center Dispatch and print feeders for work orders.

Responsibilities:

  • Trained in CNC, lathes, machine centers, quality, safety, blueprint interpretation from engineering as required, MSDS training, fork truck training and training on all processes and procedures as they pertain to the job.
  • Maintain clean conditions in the workplace, ensuring good housekeeping and a well-organized, safe environment.
  • Utilize the Hitachi Energy standard toolbox for machine shop employees – fixtures, taps, drill bits, insert tooling, etc. Safety shoes and safety glasses are required. Face shield to be worn when chips are circulating.
  • Work with purchased aluminum stock, brass, bronze, cast-iron materials, raw steel, copper stock, and cleaning agents.
  • Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations.
  • Provide information to drafting, engineering, and the supervisor as needed.
  • Receive normal supervision on routine assignments. Obtain technical information from engineering as required.
  • Meet the requirements of a Code 9 machinist and achieve proficiency machinist standards in productivity and accuracy with a minimum of 4 years shop experience or demonstrated proficiency.
  • Dispose of scrap or waste material in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
  • Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, or engineering information to determine methods or sequences of operations needed to fabricate products.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or relevant industry or graduate from a trade school covering standard and computer-controlled metal working equipment or demonstrated knowledge.
