Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a skilled Machinist to join our workshop team in Salt Lake City, Utah. You will set up and operate conventional and NC machining equipment to produce precision components for gearbox repair and manufacturing projects.

You will read engineering drawings, perform precision measurements, and verify parts meet tight tolerances. The role requires quality focus, safety compliance, and collaboration with service technicians.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of machining experience or equivalent hands‑on experience in a manufacturing, repair, or machine shop environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and machining specifications.
• Experience operating manual and/or CNC/NC machine tools while holding tight tolerances.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, and inspection equipment.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial mechanical equipment, preferably gearboxes, rotating equipment, pumps, motors, or heavy industrial machinery.
• Gearbox repair or rebuild experience.
• Faro Arm measurement and inspection experience.
• Welding and fabrication skills.
• Forklift and overhead crane experience.
• Knowledge of vibration analysis and gear failure analysis.

This position is responsible for setting up and operating conventional and NC machining equipment, producing precision-machined components, performing inspections, and supporting gearbox rebuild and service activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong machining background, experience working from technical drawings, and a commitment to quality and safety.
