Job description

Overview

Stryten Energy, a new company name with a long history in Lancaster County, operates a growing plastic injection molding facility in West Lampeter Township. We produce plastic components for car batteries and have a stable and growing customer base. As an essential business, we continue to thrive during this economic downturn, and we are expanding our teams.

Mold Mechanic II performs mold repair in a timely and effective manner in an effort to support the molding department’s production objectives. Other activities include but are not limited to mold improvements, mold modifications, and mold maintenance.

This is a 1st shift opening (Monday - Friday, 7am - 3pm)


Responsibilities

  1. Perform scheduled and emergency repairs on all injection molds.
  2. Respond to problem tag system and carry out repairs.
  3. Ensure work is performed in a neat and professional manner.
  4. Work on special projects as assigned.
  5. Complete work requests/work orders with a clear description of work done.
  6. Assist with Root Cause Analysis and repetitive failures as they relate to injection molds.
  7. Assist with engineering projects/modification work.
  8. Willingness to work as a team.
  9. Able to handle multiple tasks with limited supervision.
  10. Ability to effectively manage time and meet specified deadlines.
  11. Good communication with process engineering to work on improving molding through tooling improvements and processing; diagnose/troubleshoot and help/implement corrections to tooling problems with other facilities.
  12. Be available to work flexible shifts to ensure support and proper coverage is available.
  13. Motivated self-starter that is able to productively work alone and in groups to solve problems.
  14. Must have the ability and willingness to work overtime on an as-needed/required basis in order to complete work in process and communicate with other shifts.
  15. Work within established policies, procedures, practices, and regulations.
  16. Attend all required trainings and meetings.
  17. Follow all company safety policies and procedures including the use of PPE and safety equipment.
  18. Participate in continuous improvement, 5S, and other lean manufacturing initiatives.
  19. Continuously improve the general housekeeping, organization of equipment, tools, and supplies to keep workstations as efficient as possible.
  20. Maintain an organized and efficient work area.
  21. Other responsibilities as assigned to meet the needs of the business.

Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Apprenticeship Training certificate (preferred but not required).
  3. Five years Machinist experience as it relates to injection molds (Preferred).
  4. Must be able to troubleshoot and repair molds as needed.
  5. Fundamental understanding of injection molding.
  6. Understanding of mold construction and mold maintenance principles.
  7. NC milling machines and NC lathes.
  8. Surface grinding.
  9. EDM machine operation.
  10. Basic math and trigonometry.
  11. Machine tool set-up.
  12. Blue print reading.
  13. Welding.
  14. Basic mechanical layout (dimension and sketch tooling, jigs, fixture, etc.).
  15. Basic Computer Skills.
  16. Physical requirements as defined in associated job analysis.
  17. Proven satisfactory work history (attendance and performance). This must be maintained. Attendance is critical to this position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS, ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently exposed to fumes, dust, airborne particles, and extreme heat and humidity. Noise levels in the manufacturing facility are usually high. Qualified candidates must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, and climb with minimal effort. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
