Job summary

Bombardier Transportation GmbH is seeking a skilled machinist in Moorpark, CA. The role involves performing a variety of machining operations, verifying tolerances, reading blueprints, and ensuring proper setup of mills and lathes.

You will monitor tool wear, adjust speeds, and maintain documentation and tooling for ongoing production. Hybrid or on-site work policies apply where applicable, with a strong emphasis on safety and precision.

Qualifications

  • Experience in performing a range of machining operations to engineering specs.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances.
  • Experience verifying quantity, material type, and inspection points per work orders.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to General Work Requirements.
  • Verify quantity and material type are correct and all prior inspection points have been stamped.
  • Verify all engineering and shop documents have been obtained to perform the necessary work order.
  • Assist with planning machining procedures and set-up machine and part(s).
  • Set-up and/or verify cutting tools per machine requirements.
  • Perform machining operations (boring, drilling, milling, tapping, threading) to spec tolerances.
  • Monitor feeds, spindle speeds, and tool wear; adjust as needed.
  • Finish machined parts with hand tools and verify tolerances per specs.
  • Maintain documents, shop aids, and blueprints; plan procedures and setups.
  • Develop or edit programs for machining equipment as required.
  • Perform manual and CNC operations; maintain program/documents and blueprints.

  • Maintain existing system of programs, documents, shop aid tools, and blueprints for applicable machines and equipment
How to thrive in this role?
  • You have the ability to deburr, cut, polish, blend, and smooth the surfaces of machined parts using a variety of hand tools, for example, grinders, deburring tools, drill, and files
  • You have basic knowledge of properties of mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum applicable to part fabrication
  • You have the ability to operate machining equipment including both mills and lathes
  • You have the ability to build shop aid tools to further enhance machining operation for applicable equipment
  • You have the ability to distinguish between a sharp and a dull or chipped tool
  • You have the ability to operate conventional and computerized machining equipment including both mills and lathes
  • You have the ability to design and build shop aid tools to further enhance machining operation for applicable equipment
  • You have the ability to operate and calibrate tool setter per assigned area
