Job summary

Acara Solutions is seeking a skilled machinist for a client in California. This role centers on precision machining, maintaining tight tolerances, and selecting speeds and feeds according to material and finish requirements.

You will fixture and hold work with shims, wedges, and chucks, use precision measuring tools to verify features, and read blueprints. Two-plus years in a machine shop and a high school diploma are required; experience with CNCs is preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a machine shop, operating mills and lathes.
• Experience reading blueprints preferred.
• Trade school certificate a plus.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Working to machine dimensions and maintain close tolerances and correlated dimensions with a high demand for precision, concentricity, finish, and parallelism.
• Selecting speeds and feeds according to the type of material and finish requirements.

• Utilizing methods used to hold and fixture work using shims, wedges, parallels, blocks, supports, chucks, and other holding devices to obtain proper alignment and to avoid the movement or breaking of tools and parts.
• Using a variety of precision measuring instruments, inspecting in-process or finished parts to validate the above-mentioned form and feature characteristics, as well as manufacturing methods to blueprint specifications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2+ years of experience in a machine shop, including operating mills and lathes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of operating precision tools, machining methods, and cutting qualities of metals.
• Experience with manual and CNC operation on a variety of mills, lathes, grinders, and coordinate measuring machines.
• 2+ years of machining experience.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Trade school technical certificate.
• Haas CNC vertical machining center.
