Position Summary
As a Machinist, you will play a pivotal role in our manufacturing process, performing 3-4 setups per shift on small quantity orders. Operating conventional, special purpose, CNC, and Numerical Control (NC) machines and machining center, you will fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts, contributing directly to the realization of our pressure relief solutions.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Study specifications, such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualize products to determine the materials required and the machines to be used for part fabrication.
- Select appropriate raw materials to ensure precision and quality.
- Edit CNC programs to manufacture parts that meet drawing dimensions and tolerances.
- Determine optimal feeds and speeds for producing high-quality parts.
- Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances using precise measuring instruments, such as dial indicators, gauge blocks, thickness gauges, and micrometres.
- Competently run single-piece flow through machining cells, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area while adhering to prescribed safety procedures.
- Ensure all shipments are accurate, meet specifications, and are dispatched on schedule.
- Proactively notify supervisors of any issues and develop work plans to keep jobs on track.
- Conduct meticulous checks and implement corrections on all parts, exceeding customer expectations.
- Record data accurately on lot cards or job travelers.
- Follow OE procedures, company handbook, and safety policies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with systems like SAP, Epicor, Oracle, or D365.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Understanding of machine operation and maintenance instructions.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Collaboration skills for working with other departments.
- Arithmetic skills, including working with units of measure, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Effective multitasking and workflow management skills.
- Experience with data entry in ERP systems for inventory and job tracking.
- Problem-solving skills related to equipment operation and product processing.
Education and Certification Qualifications
- Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
- Five years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
