Job summary

HDL Research Lab Inc in Brenham, Texas, is seeking a skilled CNC machinist to set up, operate, and troubleshoot Haas and Mazak machines, including 3- and 5-axis mills and lathes, to produce precision parts.

You will read blueprints and GibbsCAM files, measure parts with calipers and FARO, perform in-process deburr, maintain tooling and machine calibration, and uphold safety and clean-work standards in a fast-paced defense-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of machining experience or relevant technical training.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings/quality documents.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and GD&T understanding.
  • Excellent time management in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC machines (Haas, Mazak), including 3-axis and 5-axis machines.
  • Read blueprints, technical drawings, and GibbsCAM files to execute tasks.
  • Machining to tolerances within +/- 0.005 and inspect parts with precision tools.
  • Assist with in-process deburr and maintain a clean work area.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and tool calibration checks.
  • Maintain a work record and adhere to safety protocols.

Requirements
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status.
  • Minimum 1 year of machining experience and/or relevant technical training program.
  • Ability to read and comprehend drawings, quality documents, etc.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of GDandT.
  • Excellent time management with the ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Preferred, But Not Required
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally need to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time; walk and stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • Experience with multi-axis machining for high-tolerance parts.
  • Familiarity with relevant materials (e.g., 6061 aluminum, copper, specialty plastics, etc.).
