Job summary

Lennox, a global HVAC leader, seeks a Machinist to fabricate, repair and alter metal parts using lathes and milling machines, ensuring parts meet drawings and tolerances. You’ll work from blueprints and operate metalworking equipment in a team environment.

Prerequisites include reading drawings, 2+ years manufacturing experience (HVAC preferred), High School Diploma, ability to lift 50 lbs, and willingness to work 6am–4:30pm with overtime.

Qualifications

• Two years plus of manufacturing experience required; HVAC background preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings accurately from blueprints.
• Ability to read measurement instruments such as calipers and micrometers.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, repair, and alter metal parts per drawings and specifications.
• Set up and operate lathes and milling machines to established specs.
• Maintain tolerances to ±0.005 inches and inspect finished parts.
• Measure, mark, and prepare metal stock; review plans and diagrams.
• Keep work area clean, maintain logs, and assist with related duties.

What Drives Success

The Machinist's primary functions are to fabricate, maintain, repair, and/or alters metal parts and metal objects using a variety of hand tools and metalworking machines.

Job Duties:

• Manufacturing parts from different materials to the drawings supplied.
• Handling of raw and stock materials from delivery to completion of parts.
• Maintaining tolerances as close as +- .005.
• Daily production of saw cutting, milling, turning, drilling, tapping, reaming, slotting, deburring, sanding, and grinding.
• Sets up and operates metalworking machines such as lathes and milling machines to machine parts to established specifications.
• Performs related duties such as cleaning work area, tools, and equipment; maintaining records and logs; and drawing sketches of metal parts or metal components to be machined.
• Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock following blueprints, diagrams and/or specifications and using square rule and scribe to prepare metal for machining operations.
• Sets up and operates metalworking machines such as lathes and milling machines to machine parts to established specifications.
• Reviews plans, specifications, diagrams, etc. to determine dimensions and tolerances of metal components to be machined and to determine the tools, materials and equipment required to complete assigned project.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must be able to work 6am-430pm Monday-Thursday.
• Must be flexible – OT and weekend are required as needed.
• Must be able to read/write.
• Must be able to work as part of a team and independently.
• Must be able to read and correctly interpret drawings.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Must be able to read measurement instruments such as Calipers, Micrometers, tape measure etc.
• Basic math skills to measure specifications.

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience

• 2 years plus of manufacturing experience – HVAC industry preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements – Essential

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, push, pull, twist, and turn for long periods of time in a manufacturing environment (Varied based on daily tasks).
• Must be in good physical condition.
• Must have good hand/eye coordination.

What We Offer

Compensation:This is an hourly non-exempt role. The starting pay range for this role and market is between $18.00– $23.00/hour. Factors that may affect starting pay include geography/market, and the skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Employees in this role are also eligible to earn overtime when they work more than 40 hours in a week (or as otherwise required by state law).
