Job summary

Tidewater Community College seeks an adjunct instructor for the Machining Technology program. The incumbent will teach CNC and manual machining courses at Chesapeake campuses, or remotely via Zoom if approved, and provide timely feedback to students toward program outcomes.

Candidates must have at least five years of machining experience, including CNC and manual operations, and a diploma or higher in a related field.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or equivalent).
• Minimum of five years of industry experience in machining, including CNC and manual operations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
• Commitment to hands-on, student-centered instruction.

Responsibilities

• Create a learning environment that facilitates students’ acquisition of knowledge and skills in machining.
• Align course activities with student learning outcomes and provide prompt, meaningful feedback.
• Deliver instruction in line with stated learning outcomes and conduct timely assessments.
• Work schedule may include day, evening and weekend classes as needed.
• Hold at least 1 office hour per week for each course assigned.
