Job summary

Mersen is seeking a skilled machinist to join our New York manufacturing team. You will set up and operate machining equipment on pre‑production items and prototypes, following blueprints and established controls.

Responsibilities include minimizing waste, identifying improvements, performing basic maintenance, and training new staff while ensuring complete traceability and quality across production orders.

Responsibilities

• Undertakes adjustment and setting of specific equipment to carry out machining operations, based on a dossier and blueprints. (Assessment indicator: Scrap rate)
• Uses the appropriate machining tools. (Assessment indicator: Tools in good condition)
• Machines pre‑production items and prototypes, follows established controls to validate the first items manufactured in a production run. (Assessment indicator: Scrap rate)
• Looks for potential improvements to reduce wastage and keep within production time. (Assessment indicator: Scrap rate, CONQ)
• Detects machining faults and seeks corrective actions. (Assessment indicator: Metrics)
• Ensures the required traceability (product/process), and reports on his/her work. (Assessment indicator: Manufacturing order filled out)
• Carries out first‑level maintenance on equipment. (Assessment indicator: Maintenance process follow‑up)
• Provides technical support and tutors new starters. (Assessment indicator: Number of support actions)
