Job summary

Mersen is seeking a skilled machinist in Greenville, MI to set up, adjust and operate production machines on the shop floor. You will machine production items, run pre-production items, and verify first articles while following safety, cost, quality and time constraints.

You will read blueprints, use basic measuring tools, and perform quality inspections. The role demands good math, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, preferred
• Analytical and numerical skills; ability to perform mathematical calculations and work with decimals / fractions
• Use of basic measuring tools (tape measure, caliper, etc)
• Ability to read blueprints
• Capable of standing for long periods of time
• Good interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Adjusts and prepares production tools for machining operations in line with safety, cost, quality and time requirements.
• Machines pre-production items and prototypes and validates first items in a production run.
• Detects machining faults and seeks corrective action.
• Ensures traceability (product/process) and reports on their work.
• Set up, adjust and operate machines.
• Performs quality control inspections and follows setup sheets and instructions.
• Edits programs as necessary.
• Evaluates and performs tool changes.
• Maintains the cleanliness of the work area.
• Promotes safety at all times.

Main missions

• Adjusts and prepares production tools and resources to carry out machining operations using dedicated machining equipment (conventional or numerical) according to production safety, cost, quality and time requirements, and in compliance with HSE rules.
• Machines pre-production items and prototypes, follows established controls to validate the first items manufactured in a production run.
• Detects machinig faults and seeks corrective action.
• Ensures the required tracibility (product / process), and reports on their work.
• Set up, adjust and operate machines.
• Perform quality control inspections; follow set up sheets and instructions
• Edit programs as necessary
• Evaluate and perform tool changes
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area
