The Machining Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all metal machining operations at the plant, focusing on ensuring on-time product output while maintaining strict quality standards. This role reports directly to the Plant Manager and is a key member of the Greer Stop Nut Supervisory Group.
Daily responsibilities include:
- Careful job planning aligned with plant productivity targets.
- Product quality management.
- Leading a team of Screw Machine and Swiss-Style CNC Machinists.
- Partnering with other plant departments.
Essential Functions:
- Provide direct management and leadership to the machining team across all shifts.
- Inspect work to ensure standards and quality expectations are met.
- Optimize and maintain Screw Machine and CNC equipment, oversee preventive maintenance, and identify productivity improvements.
- Ensure a safe manufacturing environment, free from hazards and environmental risks.
- Seek continuous improvement in productivity and equipment effectiveness.
- Ensure on-time production to meet customer delivery commitments.
- Eliminate scrap and prevent non-conforming parts from progressing.
- Contribute to equipment design and installation for new processes.
- Adhere to process control and quality instructions.
- Develop strategies for continuous improvement.
- Manage quality, delivery, costs, and work-in-process levels.
- Recommend and purchase equipment for expansion and efficiency.
- Motivate and maintain a positive team environment.
- Control manufacturing costs and inventory levels.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Experience in supervising metal machining manufacturing.
- Knowledge of Screw Machines (Davenport & Acme) and CNC equipment (Tsugami Swiss-style).
- Proven results-driven management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to change.
- Flexibility to work off-shifts and weekends as needed.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.

Experience & Education:
- Bachelor’s in Industrial, Mechanical, or related Engineering; MS or MBA preferred.

- Certification in Continuous Improvement, Lean, or Six Sigma.
