Job summary

Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College seeks a part-time Machining Adjunct Instructor for the Economic & Workforce Development program. The role provides in-person, hands-on instruction in machining and CNC operations to support pre-hire training, post-hire upskilling, and incumbent worker development.

The instructor designs industry-aligned curricula, develops lesson plans, and collaborates with employers to ensure training meets safety and workforce needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of practical machining/advanced manufacturing experience.
• Minimum 3 years of in-person, hands-on instruction experience.
• Proficiency with modern manufacturing equipment and software (CNC, CAD/CAM).
• Ability to develop, customize, and deliver curriculum, lesson plans, and assessments.
• Strong collaboration and communication with students, employers, and teams.
• Ability to supervise students in classrooms, labs, and hands-on training environments.
• Basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure safe labs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver in-person machining instruction (CNC and related processes) at multiple training sites.
• Maintain up-to-date curriculum reflecting industry standards and workforce needs.
• Develop and update lesson materials, activities, assignments, projects, and assessments.
• Collaborate with employers and internal teams to align training with job competencies.
• Supervise students in labs and field experiences, enforcing safety rules.
• Maintain and ensure safe operation of machining equipment and labs.
• Prepare course documentation, scheduling, attendance, and grading as required.
• Support program development, scheduling, and continuous improvement initiatives.
