Our Machinery and Equipment Specialties department seeks a field engineer to provide machinery and equipment boiler inspections. This position is based in our Springfield, IL territory and can be filled by a trainee or experienced engineer. Positions serving territories away from our headquarters in Fairfield, Ohio are fully remote.

Starting Pay: The pay range for this position is $63,000 - $105,000 annually, based on education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on performance.

Be Ready To

• Maintain territory's jurisdictional boiler and pressure vessel certificate inspections
• Manage the territory efficiently and effectively
• Educate agents on marketing machinery and equipment to clients
• Serve as a professional resource to insurance agents to retain business and enhance marketing efforts
• Provide high-level claims service to local independent insurance agents

Be Equipped With

Field Engineer Trainees Should Also Be Equipped With

• An engineering or technically-based bachelor’s degree or relevant boiler and pressure vessel work experience

• Strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, organizational, and prioritization skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software
• Willingness to travel within the territory
• Valid driver’s license

Experienced Field Engineers Should Also Be Equipped With

• Machinery and equipment experience within a property and casualty insurance company (preferred)
• Knowledge of machinery, equipment breakdown coverages, regulations, and standards (preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree or related experience and training
• National board commission or qualifications to acquire it
• Consultative, organizational, and presentation skills
• Continuous education pursuit
• Valid driver’s license
