Job summary

Thorlabs in Newton, NJ is seeking a machine shop manufacturing technician to support CNC manufacturing and automation on the shop floor. The role involves improving prints, tooling, fixturing, and producing new production metrics to raise output and quality.

You will collaborate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability and assist with quality issues. The position requires 1–3 years in CNC manufacturing or related field, a B.S.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in CNC Manufacturing and Engineering or relevant field.
• B.S. Degree in Engineering or Equivalent experience, or technical degree.
• Proficiency in basic computer use (MS Office) and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing/automation on shop floor with a hands-on approach.
• Improve machining prints, process sheets, jigs/tooling, fixturing, and design.
• Identify and implement new production metrics to drive output and quality.
• Improve in-process inspection methods and metrology equipment.
• Document and test shop floor implementations for new processes.
• Update drawings to improve manufacturability of products.
• Collaborate with design engineering to ensure manufacturability.
• Provide technical support for quality or manufacturing issues on the shop floor.
