Job summary

Thorlabs, a leading photonics components company, seeks a machine shop manufacturing technician to support manufacturing and automation on the shop floor at Newton, NJ. The role is part of the process improvement team, improving day-to-day operations and manufacturability of products.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in CNC manufacturing, a B.S. in Engineering or equivalent, and proficiency in SolidWorks, ISO/ASTM knowledge, and Lean principles.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in CNC Manufacturing and Engineering or relevant field.
• B.S. Degree in Engineering or Equivalent experience, or technical degree.

Responsibilities

• Support manufacturing/automation on shop floor with a hands-on approach.
• Improve machining prints, process sheets, jigs/tooling, and fixturing to enhance output and quality.
• Update machining drawings to improve manufacturability of old and new products.
• Provide technical support for quality or manufacturing issues on the shop floor.
