Job summary

AUTOKINITON is seeking an Axis Engineering–Machine Shop Leader to guide fabrication operations, oversee tool room activities, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards. You will train associates, manage scheduling, and coordinate with managers to meet project timelines.

The role requires a strong background in welding, cutting, forming, and assembly, with the ability to read engineering drawings and use precision measuring tools.

Qualifications

• High school Diploma or GED; or 3–5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Journeyman’s card preferred.
• Five+ years of fabrication, welding, or metal manufacturing experience.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, including welding, cutting, forming, grinding, and assembly.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication blueprints.
• Experience using precision measuring tools and inspection equipment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out leader responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
• Responsible for training associates; planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, mentoring Tool Maker Apprentices, and coordinating with managers.
• Support the Company’s mission, vision, values, and goals in performance of daily activities including safety and quality metrics along with standard tool & die work.
• Study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions and visualizes product to determine the materials required and the machines to be used to fabricate parts, weld parts and build tools accurately.
• Make decisions and judgments about proper course of action for repair and maintenance in tool room, machine shop and Fab Areas.
• Gives direction and approval for revisions to project scope and timing.
• Monitor/improve machine shop capacity and perishable tooling usage.
• Implements and maintain preventive maintenance programs.
• Lead and supervise daily Fabrication operations.
• Verify completed work meets quality standards and customer specifications.
