Job summary

Amphenol Borisch Technologies (ABT), a division of Amphenol Corporation, is seeking a Machine Shop Engineering Intern to support the kick press cell with work instructions, tooling standards, and process improvements. The role offers hands-on experience in manufacturing engineering and machine shop operations, with a 20-hour-per-week schedule through the fall term.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS in Engineering; junior or senior preferred.
• Interest in manufacturing engineering and machine shop processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Observe current processes with the kick press operator and identify improvement opportunities.
• Develop and write new work instructions for kick press operations.
• Identify tooling needed for kick press jobs and assign ABT numbers to each tool.
• Assist in improving the layout and flow of the kick press cell.
• Assist in scheduling and ordering tooling and fixturing for Machine Shop jobs.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to develop production fixtures.
• Investigate continuous improvement opportunities to reduce labor and costs.
• Troubleshoot internal production issues under supervision.
• Provide technical support to production teams as directed.
• Assist in evaluating new systems and equipment to reduce costs, labor, and time.
