Job summary

Amphenol Borisch Technologies in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking an Industrial Engineering Intern to support the Engineering and Operations Team during a 20-hour-per-week internship from September 14 to December 11. The focus is on improving production efficiency, ergonomics, health and safety, and on re-layout and organization of the production facility.

You will apply 5S, value stream mapping and lean methods while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive projects that enhance product

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program with a focus on Industrial Engineering.
Proficiency with 5S and Value Stream Mapping.
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Initiates, champions, leads and implements process improvement projects.
Prepares layouts of plant facilities to optimize utilization and product flow.
Implements lean principles and methods in production, including 5S.
Recommends workspace layout changes to maximize efficient production.
Organizes/prioritizes resources and leads cross-functional teams to execute improvement projects.
Communicates project scopes, progress and closeouts to key stakeholders to create awareness and generate support.
Collaborates with engineering and operations to support improvement opportunities focused on quality, efficient production and safe work environment.
Acts as a catalyst for continuous improvement at the Grand Rapids facility.
