An established industry player is seeking a skilled Machined Parts Inspector to ensure quality and precision in manufactured components. In this pivotal role, you will utilize your expertise in inspection procedures and precision measurement to assess machined parts, ensuring they meet stringent blueprint specifications. Determines, by visual examination and measurements with precision instruments, gauges, etc., the adherence to blueprint specifications and the proper standards of workmanship, material, finish, etc., on machined parts, excluding gears and gear-type parts. Conducts complex layouts and setups on surface plates and checks measurements to close tolerances. Inspected parts may be made from various materials such as steel, aluminum, aluminum alloys, brass, bronze, and may include bolts, die castings, sand castings, forgings, extrusions, purchased parts, brake cylinders, oleo struts, etc.
Determines appropriate inspection procedures, devises methods for new machine parts, and recommends improvements in procedures and practices. Assigns duties to lower-grade Machined Parts Inspectors, instructs them on methods, and reviews their work for accuracy and completeness. May be involved in any phase of machined parts inspection in Receiving Inspection, including acceptance of vendor-made machined parts, forgings, castings, etc., except gears and gear-type parts, based on specifications and inspection procedures.
Inspector’s hand and marking tools, machinist’s hand tools, precision-measuring instruments, special testing and alignment devices, precision gauges, templates, and material testing equipment.
Thirty-six months of experience in Machine Shop practice or Machine Shop Inspection, or equivalent, preferably within the aircraft industry.
