Job Description - Machine Parts Inspector A - 2nd Shift (331927)

This position involves inspecting machined parts to ensure they meet blueprint specifications and quality standards, excluding gears and gear-type parts.

Work Performed:

1. Visually examine and measure parts using precision instruments, gauges, and other tools to verify adherence to specifications.
2. Perform complex layouts and setups on surface plates, checking measurements to close tolerances.
3. Inspect parts made from various materials such as steel, aluminum, brass, bronze, etc., including bolts, castings, forgings, extrusions, and purchased parts.
4. Determine appropriate inspection procedures, devise new methods, and recommend improvements.
5. Assign tasks to lower-grade inspectors, instruct them, and review their work for accuracy.
6. Inspect vendor-made machined parts, forgings, and castings, excluding gears, using layout and other inspection procedures.

Tools & Equipment Used:

• Hand and marking tools, machinist’s hand tools, precision measuring instruments, special testing and alignment devices, gauges, templates, and material testing equipment.

Experience & Other Requirements:

• Minimum of 36 months of machine shop practice or inspection experience, preferably in the aircraft industry.
