Job summary

O'Neal Steel is seeking a Machine Operator (Thermal) for the 2nd shift in Jacksonville, FL. You will set up and operate thermal processing equipment (plasma, laser) and handle materials using forklifts and cranes, following blueprints and instructions to meet specifications.

The role requires reading drawings, using calipers and micrometers, and precise measurement work. Overtime may be required; background check and drug test may apply.

Qualifications

O'Neal Steel currently has an opening for a (2nd Shift) Machine Operator (thermal) at our Jacksonville, FL facility.

The Machine Operator sets up and operates thermal processing equipment in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Thermal processing equipment is defined as any machine that uses thermal energy (heat) to cut, form, shape or otherwise process stock material. These machines include but are not limited to plasmas, lasers, etc. Uses computer-controlled equipment to select, position and secure automatic or semi-automatic machines. Controls and adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion.

What you will be doing:

• Following all safety guidelines and wearing all required personal protective equipment.
• Set up and operate a variety of thermal processing equipment; plasma, laser, etc.
• Operate a wide variety of material handling equipment, forklift, overhead crane, stacker crane, side loader, yard dog, etc.
• Read and interpret blueprints and following work instructions.
• Use measuring tools such as tape measure, box caliper, slide dial caliper, and micrometer.
• Convert fractions to decimals and vice versa, add and subtract fractions and decimals.
• Provide high quality work to all internal and external customers as related to the output of their position.

Must be able to work 2nd Shift (1:00PM - 9:00PM) Monday-Friday. Overtime will be required as needed.
