Job summary

Olympic Steel is seeking a Machine Operator to safely set up and operate leveling, sheeting, and console equipment, ensuring accurate sheet dimensions and stack weights to meet customer specs.

You will work from customer orders and engineered layouts, maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High School or GED equivalent is preferred.
• Mechanically inclined and production oriented with safety focus.
• General knowledge of crane operation and lifting devices.
• Basic math skills are required.
• Self-motivated with ability to work under supervision.
• Detail oriented with ability to inspect material with measuring devices and drawings.
• Working knowledge of general computer programs.
• Experience with precision instruments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate automatic leveling, sheeting, and console-operated equipment to level length and stack sheets to customer requirements.
• Work from customer orders, engineered layouts and general instructions.
• Inspect material for quality conformance using measuring devices and drawings.

Sets up and operates automatic leveling, sheeting, console-operated equipment to level length and stack weigh flat sheets of various gauges of material to customer requirements. Work from customer orders, engineered layouts, and general instructions.

Qualifications:

• High School or GED equivalent preferred.
• Mechanically inclined, production-oriented and safety and quality conscious.
• General knowledge of crane operation and ancillary lifting devices.
• Basic math skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work under general supervision.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to inspect material for quality conformance through the use of measuring devices and drawings.
• Functional literacy.
• Working knowledge of general computer programs preferred.
• Previous experience with precision instruments preferred.
