Position Summary

The Machine Operator I performs operator level maintenance and operates a variety of conventional and/or basic Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine by drilling, tapping, milling, shaping, and forming in the manufacturing of FN America components and products.

Job Duties

  • Works from print drawings, instructions, and process documents, in the operation of assembly, conventional machines or CNC to run production components to the required specifications.
  • Completes a variety of milling, drilling, grinding, riveting, and turning on conventional machines or related operations to close and interrelated tolerances.
  • Reviews Operational Control Sheets (OCS) and specifications to determine machining sequence, tooling requirements/changes, and dimensions of finished workpiece.
  • Executes tool changes on simple operations such as drilling and reaming operations (i.e. sanding belts and grinding wheels).
  • Performs a variety of inspection and gaging operations to ensure part quality to the documented requirements.
  • Establishes and maintains a safe, clean, and healthful working environment in accordance with OHSA requirements and company standards, to include proper use of machining best practices, proper housekeeping, machine safeguarding, and personal protective equipment.
  • Records necessary data and production values per the process requirements.
  • Assists with the implementation of lean principles and methods, engages in activities that create a continuous improvement environment, sustains lean processes, suggests areas of improvement in safety, quality, cost, delivery, and actively supports lean, 5S, and value stream management initiatives.
  • Completes preventative maintenance as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Typical manufacturing environment with exposure to loud noises and dangerous chemicals and machinery. Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds unassisted.
