Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Machine Operator – Aerospace Components for a contract-to-hire role on the shop floor in Kent, WA. You will operate CNC and Swiss-style machines to manufacture small aerospace parts and handle loading/unloading materials.

You will perform minor setups, use micrometers and calipers for inspection, follow work instructions, and collaborate with machinists to maintain precision and quality while staying compliant with safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on CNC and Swiss-style machine operation in a production setting.
  • Experience with aerospace machine operation or similar high-precision manufacturing.
  • Ability to safely operate and monitor machine tools and inspect parts.
  • Proficiency using micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments.

Job Description

This role focuses on operating production machinery to manufacture small, high-precision aerospace parts. You will load and unload parts, monitor machine performance, perform minor setups, and use precision measuring tools to ensure all components meet strict quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC and related production machines to manufacture small aerospace components according to specifications.
  • Load raw materials and unload finished parts from machines in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Monitor machines during operation to ensure they run correctly and consistently, identifying and addressing basic issues as they arise.
  • Perform minor machine setups and adjustments to maintain optimal performance and product quality.
  • Measure parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision inspection tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Tune and adjust tools based on measurement results to maintain accuracy and repeatability.
  • Inspect parts visually and dimensionally throughout the production process to ensure they meet aerospace quality standards.
  • Follow established work instructions, safety procedures, and quality control processes on the shop floor.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area around the machines and equipment.
  • Collaborate with machinists and other team members to troubleshoot production issues and improve processes.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience with CNC machine operation in a production environment.
  • Experience in aerospace machine operation or similar high-precision manufacturing.
  • Ability to operate and monitor machine tools safely and efficiently.
  • Proficiency in using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments for inspection.
  • Strong attention to detail when measuring, inspecting, and tuning tools.
  • Capability to perform minor machine setups and adjustments.
  • Basic understanding of machining processes and part tolerances.
  • Ability to follow technical instructions and standard operating procedures on the shop floor.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working with Swiss-style machines.
  • Previous experience as a machinist or in a machinist support role.
  • Familiarity with aerospace quality standards and inspection practices.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced production shop environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
