Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ year in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Able to read and write English to complete required forms and verify quality.
  • Ability to read a ruler or tape measure to 1/8 inch.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Operate extruder and perform setup, runs and troubleshooting to ensure quality.
  • Perform changeovers and complete changeover forms; arrange assistance as needed.
  • Clean blenders and equipment for material changes; oversee pre-blend and blending operations.
  • Document production activities: labor logs, scrap sheets and quality checks.
  • Monitor safety rules and environmental procedures; respond to alerts and adjust machines for quality.
  • Complete system paperwork and maintain accurate BOM and material records.

Job DescriptionThe starting rate of pay for this position is expected to be $19.78; however, starting pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience between $19.78 and $22.00.LOCATION: Sterling, MA (not eligible for relocation or employment-based visa sponsorship)SHIFT: Rotating (3 days work/4 days off & 4 days work/3 days off - work every other weekend) 12-hour shift 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.SUMMARYEfficient extruder operation through set up, runs and troubleshooting machinery that ensures a quality product which meets or exceeds internal quality and customer standards.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSObserve, follow and support all safety and environmental rules/procedures/policiesPerform changeovers and completes changeover setup formArrange assistance for changeoverCleans blenders and other equipment for material changesOversee pre-blend and the blending or mixing of resins in off-line as well as on-lineComplete paperwork for production, including labor log, scrap sheet and daily functional check sheetSet all secondary equipment (printer, punches, venting, portable winders, etc.) and test functionality to assure proper set-up and operationWatch for and react to stack light alertsMake machine adjustments as needed to maintain required product quality and/or as identified by Packer/InspectorIdentify equipment shortfalls and complete maintenance report forms as neededClose order in system when completedIdentify and strive to meet expected rates or standards of production and notes correct variance code in systemCollect, weigh, and document all scrap and enter in systemEnsure REPRO is being run/added to resinAdjust and/or correct Bill of Materials (BOM)Perform and document 2-hour quality checksRelieve other team members for breaks/lunchesPerform other related functions and duties as may be assignedSecondary Job Functions:Check run ratesPerform quality checks front to back (resins, silos, computer information, blender settings, etc.)Ensure tools are in proper location(s)Ensure axillary equipment is in working condition (press, vents V-board, etc.)Ensure ink/solvent room is in proper orderPerform all duties of a Utility OperatorMaintains housekeeping throughout production area(s) including, but not limited to cleaning around extruders and blendersQUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or GED equivalent1 or more yrs experience in a manufacturing environment1 yr extrusion operator experience (preferred)Able to read and follow written/verbal instructions (English)Able to read and write (English) to complete required forms and verify quality products are producedMust have good vision, eye-hand coordination, and hearingPHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTSAble to work overtime, holidays, weekends, days, or nights for 12 or more hoursAble to work independently and in a teamBasic math skillsAble to read a ruler/tape measure/gauge caliper device(s) to 1/8 of an inchAble to stand, sit, kneel, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and crawl for extended periods multiple times per dayAble to lift up to 50 pounds unassistedNo fear of heightsMust have manual dexterity involving total wrist action, twisting, pulling, and raising arms at or above shoulder heightMust have good vision, eye-hand coordination and hearingAble to work in warm, humid, and cool climates for 12 or more hours per day or nightAble to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) which includes safety glasses, safety goggles, hearing protection, steel toe shoes/boots, face shield, gloves, fire retardant jacket/apron and face maskOur ExpectationsWe expect our people to be guided by The Amcor Way and demonstrate our Values every day to enable the business to win.
