Job summary

Amcor is seeking a Machine Operator to manage safe operation of blow molding lines, monitor part quality, and assist in training. You will tend presses, inspect finished parts, and document daily production, while upholding strict safety and housekeeping standards.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, forklift certification, and the ability to read basic words and perform simple math. Join a team focused on quality, safety, and continuous improvement in a loud manufacturing

Responsibilities

  • Randomly check parts hourly to ensure specifications are met.
  • Tend machines and monitor flow of parts on molding lines.
  • Check finished parts for defects (grease, flash, punctures, etc.).
  • Notify supervisors if items do not meet quality requirements or if machinery needs repair.
  • Complete daily production reports and scrap logs.
  • Maintain housekeeping and follow safety protocols.

Job DescriptionSUMMARY Responsible for all aspects of safe machine operation in area of assigned responsibility including movement of finished product.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Randomly check parts produced every hour, to ensure that customer specifications are met.Places parts in specified relationship to each other.Monitors flow of parts into assembling machinery, secondary equipment, and storage containers.Tends machines, such as presses and crystallized which perform in molding area, according to machine (product) standard.Works at different work stations as production needs require.Works on line where tasks vary, as parts of various sizes and shapes move along the line.Assists in training new operators as needed.Check all finished parts for any possible defects (including grease, flash, punctures, and other defects).Completes daily report of parts produced and any scrap parts which resulted.Notifies Lead Person, Mold Technician and/or Production Supervisor whenever items produced do not meet quality requirements, or if machinery need repair.Uses calculator to arrive at accurate calculations of different production-related data.Wears all required personal protective equipment.Maintains housekeeping of work areas.TRAINING REQUIREMENTSThe Machine Operator has the responsibility to successfully complete the position training program found in the plant training manual.QUALIFICATIONS Requires strong understanding of blow molding process and the ability to understand basic good manufacturing practices and guidelines. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES Certificate and training in safe forklift operation are required.PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
