Machine Operator (3rd Shift)

Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Machine Operator to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Machining position performs a variety of routine and non-routine machining assignments within the department, ensuring timely and accurate test results under direct supervision. The operator must be proficient in core business skills, including compliance with safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies.

Salary: $25- $30/hr DOE

Responsibilities

• Using cutting equipment to prepare specimens for testing according to customer specifications
• Maintain equipment and schedule preventative maintenance
• Follow guidance from Department Manager and Senior Machinist coworkers
• Gather and record dimensions in accordance with quality assurance requirements

Skills / Qualifications

• Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols
• HS diploma or GED preferred; college coursework or vocational training welcomed
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a machine shop environment or some college-level courses
• Understanding of machining concepts and measurement instruments
• Preferred: Associate degree in a mechanical or related field
• Working knowledge of machine shop safety and basic algebra and geometry concepts
• Strong computer skills

Physical Demands:

• Moderate physical effort; lifting requirements of <50 lbs. often, >50 lbs. on occasion
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift 50+ lbs periodically
